RII30815 – Certificate III Civil Construction Plant Operations
There are no entry requirements for this qualification, the course requires that you complete 19 units of competency in order to obtain this qualification. Course duration may vary depending on experience of the learner, maximum time frame for this qualification is 36 months.

RII30815 – Certificate III Civil Construction Plant Operations reflects the role of a skilled operator working with Civil construction plant, who applies a broad range of skills in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. Packaging Rules

The following provides the packaging rules for this qualification, followed by the list of relevant units of competency.

Total number of units = 19

14 core units  plus

5 elective units , of which:

  • at least one (1) must be chosen from Group A
  • at least two (2) must be chosen from Group B
  • no more than two (2) may be chosen from Group C
  • no more than one (1) may be chosen from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

OR

  • at least two (2) must be chosen from Group A
  • a further three (3) may be chosen from Group A, B, or C
  • no more than one (1) may be chosen from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course.

All elective units selected from outside this qualification must reflect current occupational and learning outcomes of this AQF qualification level.

There are both licensed and non-licensed units of competency relating to high risk work in the RII Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package. To be appointed under any statutory requirements in related roles, units of competency should be selected to meet the state/territory licensing requirements.

There are prerequisites to imported units listed in this qualification. Where a unit is imported as an elective care must be taken to ensure that all prerequisites specified are complied with.

Entry Requirements – Cert III

RII30915 – Certificate III Civil Construction
There are no entry requirements for this qualification, the course requires that you complete all of the required units for the stream chosen. Course duration may vary depending on experience of the learner, maximum time frame for this qualification is 36 months.

The qualification applies to specialist occupations in Bituminous Surfacing Bridge Construction and Maintenance, Pipe Laying, Road Construction and Maintenance, Road Marking, Tunnel Construction, Timber Bridge Construction and Maintenance and Civil Construction general occupations.

RII30915 – Certificate III Civil Construction has core and elective units of competency requirements that cover the general and specialist skills for seven specialist and one general civil construction stream.

The qualification has core and elective units of competency that cover the skills for the following Stream that Final Trim Training provides:

Stream 4 – Road Construction and Maintenance

The core and elective unit requirements of one (1) stream must be met for this qualification to be awarded.

All elective units selected for this qualification must reflect current occupational and learning outcomes of this AQF qualification level.

  • at least two (2) must be chosen from Group K
  • at least two (2) must be chosen from Group L
  • no more than five (5) may come from elsewhere within this training package, or from another endorsed training package, or from an accredited course
  • at least five (5) of the eighteen (18) elective units chosen must be road construction and maintenance (RIICRC) units.

Entry Requirements – Cert III

BSB41415 – Certificate IV Work Health and Safety

This qualification is suitable for people working in a Work Health and Safety (WHS) role who work to provide leadership and guidance to others and have some limited responsibility for the output of others. Course duration may vary depending on experience of the learner, maximum time frame for this qualification is 24 months.

The qualification reflects the role of workers who apply a broad knowledge base and well developed skills in a wide variety of contexts and may include coordinators, advisors and facilitators.

Packaging Rules

Total number of units = 10

5 core units  plus

5 elective units,  of which:

  • 3 units must be from Group A below
  • 2 units may be from Group A, Group B or any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course at the same qualification level
  • if not listed below, 1 elective unit may be selected from a Certificate III or Diploma from any currently endorsed Training Package or accredited course.

Elective units must be relevant to the work environment and the qualification, maintain the integrity of the AQF alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
